Animal Control

Pell City offers Animal Control services Monday – Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.  The Animal Control Officer responds to all animal-related calls and works closely with the Police Department to safely and humanely resolve any animal issues that arise in the city.  If you need assistance from an Animal Control Officer please contact Pell City’s Central Dispatch non-emergency number 205-884-3333.

Pell City Animal Care and Control is a housing and adoption facility operated by the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. Please do not contact the Center to report animal related issues.

Pell City Animal Control provides a variety of services to the citizens within the corporate city limits of Pell City including:

• Answering calls concerning suspected abuse or cruelty to animals
• Animal Bites
• Barking dog, nuisance cats and other animals that present a problem to the community
• Injured animals

Pell City does have a leash law, a vicious animal ordinance, and requires owners to be in control of their pets at all times. Dogs are considered vicious that have bitten or have threatened to bite persons. Dogs that cross property lines and attack other dogs are also considered vicious along with dogs that destroy personal property.

Animals that cause damage or have been classified as vicious must be maintained by the owner and are not permitted to roam free. The City provides pick up services for stray dogs and cats. All animals picked up by the city will be delivered to Pell City Animal Care and Control.
